WWII Netherlands · A Polder Canal Town
1 / 2
On a summer polder in the Netherlands, a canal splits a small town into east and west banks. Two teams face off from the north and south across a 1 km × 1 km battlefield: windmill farms to the west, a church market and canal-side houses in the middle, a railway freight yard and a roadside village to the east. Four canal bridges, three riverbed fords and rolling suburban ridges keep the fight shifting between close-quarters street combat, river assaults and long-range duels.
Three objectives
- A · Windmill Fields – open farmland, orchards and enclosed farmsteads, overlooked by the wooded moraine hills to the west.
- B · Church Market – the heart of town. Canal houses, shops and courtyards form a dense urban maze, and 10 roofless ruins along the main streets break up the long sightlines.
- C · Railway Yard – station building, freight sidings and warehouses; the village street east of the tracks offers a flanking route.
Terrain and routes
- 4 canal bridges plus 3 riverbed fords (north, centre and south), so you don't have to take a bridge to cross.
- 18 tree-lined ridges and rocky outcrops on the outskirts make natural sniping spots; low dikes and sunken roads in front of each spawn cover the breakout.
- Two moraine hills in the west frame a farmstead in the saddle between them; the eastern village has front gardens, a smithy, ruined cottages and wooded knolls.
Deployment and vehicles
- North vs. South, with 15 tank spawns per team (8 on the west bank, 7 on the east bank) and approach roads on both banks.
- Aircraft supported: 8 air spawns per team, plus two field airfields in the surrounding landscape.
- Each side has a repair point and an ammunition resupply point behind its lines.
Destructible environment
- Trees, street lamps and telegraph poles can be knocked down; wooden fences, iron railings and low walls get crushed into debris.
- Trees, lamps, poles and fences won't stop a shell. Brick buildings, ruins and the terrain are your real cover.
Scale
240 buildings (112 in town), 651 trees and over 3,500 placed objects, lit by a clear summer day and surrounded by open polder country.
