Built around its own weapon, the seven-barrel GAU-8\u002FA Avenger 30 mm cannon, the pilot sits in a titanium armor tub behind thick armored glass, while twin high-mounted TF34 turbofans, redundant flight controls and self-sealing fuel tanks let it absorb damage that would down most aircraft. Its large straight wing trades outright speed — around 700 km\u002Fh clean — for excellent low-speed handling and a short landing roll over the target.
